Upgrading an LP12 turntable.

I have a Linn Sondek turntable with an SME Model 3009 Series 11 arm bought in April 1975 and unmodified since. I am looking to replace my equally old hifi equipment and to have the LP12 serviced. The LP12 has been quietly gathering dust for a year or two, as has my record collection. I do not want to spend a fortune on upgrading the LP12 to the latest spec but I would welcome advice on what would be good value for money.
