Thoughts on Naim CD player purchase

Good morning

I have been offered a decent deal on a used Naim CD 3.5, with the option of a Flatcap.  Buying both would raise the price to the level of a new Arcam CD73 or used Cyrus CD6 (to give just two examples), but the Flatcap does seem a very worthwhile purchase.  My only concern on the Naim is its age and the usual concerns about an ageing transport, laser etc.

Can anyone offer thoughts on this dilemma?

Thanks.

The Naim players are pretty robust, and I see no reason not to buy it if it looks in good nick, given that it's at least seven years old and possibly nearer ten.

You could always contact Naim for some advice on servicing costs or known problems - the company has a helpdesk for just this sort of thing, on + 44 (Innocent 1722 426600
