The Musical Fidelity AMS 35i thread
Hi Cno
Have you ever heard the Dynaudio Confidence C2? Well I'm really enjoying my current system atm, but in the near future (upgrade) I want to hear the Confidence C2. At 87db and 4 ohms do you think the AMS 35i can handle them very well?
Thanks
I'm sorry IM, I haven't.
I suspect they will be brilliant, but very (very) different to Focal (it's more in the SF Amati Futura camp).....just make sure that mixed with the 35i, they don't overwhelm the room with bass (not a problem if you have plenty of space).
I would say the 35i would manage provided you aren't running a night club. The amp likes sensitive speakers (89dB) with a low impedance (4 Ohms), which makes the most of it's current ability.....though you should get a second opinion and listen for yourself.
I would also suggest Kef Refs as a happy medium between Focal and Dynaudio......and imo would sound glorious on the end of your system!

Thanks Cno... I will definitely put the Kef Refs on my top 5 audition lists. My other options would be Proac Response D40R and Spendor ST Statement for now.
You might want to add PMC PB1i's to your list , I have a feeling that they would sound rather good on the end of your system .

Hi Electro
Yes definitely will..In fact the PB1i were on my top list before I bought the Focals but unfortunately they're out of my budget range during that time.
I once had a Technics SU-V4X 'New Class A' amp, don't know if was true Class A, but it ran pretty hot and sounded great. Do I gain honorary membership

HI IM
I only heard the dynaudio C1 conecyed to an AMS an the amp was stone cold......result was that I bought an AMS
So they where briliant. an where on my shortlist (never heard the C2) an for proarc well I heard the D18 & D28 the first one on Sugden AI4 an the second on an AMS an I love those speakers
They are never agressive an never to laid back If I didn't had my exceptional offer on my acendent my geass is that I would have ended up with D28 or D40....
Just uploaded a video on YT..unfortunately there's a copyright problem

I've watched this clip 20 odd times in the last few months. Always wonder if it is the song, the AMS combo or the speakers that appeal to me here.

All great speakers..........are you deliberately steering away from the Focal sound?
I have heard the Spendor STs, which are very good in an understated way, but would be surprised if they end up topping your list.....certainly worth a demo, but it takes a little longer to fully appreciate their talent.
I will be very interested in how you get on.
