The " Hi-fi is for life club "
Afraid I have also back slid, bought myself a brand new Icon valve amp + valve phono stage, and I'm loving every minuite of it . . . In a sort of on its head way, I am reverting to my former life of all valve hifi . . . 'valves are for life' . . . does that count . . .
O'dear, and there was the brand new Audiomods Classic arm that I picked up on the 31st of December . . . I have been a very bad boy . . .

You are forgiven my son............though I think you need to change (back) to the church of the 7th month upgrade.

Phew, and I though I'd be give at least 50 "rubbish in, rubbish out" chants, + unplug and replug 20 phone sockets on my hands and knees every day for a week . . .
7th month upgrade church, hay Cno, you have been counting. I walked out of my friendly dealers shop this morning, turning my back on an EAR 834 phono stage, saying "I will take it for a test drive another time" . . . did I realy do that? . . . I did, I did . . . Perhaps it had something to do with the £1300 I had, just a few minutes befor parted with

The little Hi-Fi devil on your shoulder will work on you subliminally (and subconsciously), until you find the phono stage somehow on a test drive, "just out of interest"...........and we all know what that means!

No DC, standard black with MM/MC switch, I dont need the MC, I have a Carver mc transformer . . . and its a lot of money for a bit of shiny bling, my amps are all black facias, although there is a nice copper plate suround for the valves, I will put up a pic after dinner.
Yeah I know, I will give in in the end, probably sooner rather than latter . . .

Sooner rather than later.......and well under the 7 months (7 weeks more like!
)
Nobody is jumping to put money on you resisting; so you giving-in and getting it, is no better than even.
Oops I did it again!
Just picked up a Pioneer SC-LX85 a/v receiver from the Sevenoaks S&V clearance sale for £999.
Wow - this is a serious piece of kit. Until now I have used my CA 751BD to do the decoding through to my previous LX53. With the LX85 installed, I did an AB test using a Beyonce blu-ray and then Dredd Blu-ray.
With the LX85 the sound just burst through the room, deeper bass and a surround sound that really sounded like it was floating in the middle of the room. Fabulous.
As always, Mrs C was the judge (dread), and her first impression was that the volume had been increased by at least 5-10 dB. Nope. A much fuller sound, and really brought the music/soundtrack to life compared to the 751, which I already thought was a great machine.

I don't recommend the Pioneer SCLX receivers for nowt you know

Personally I think there is not much to fault with any of Pioneer's stuff, usually very well built
Damnations...slipped again and bought another PSX-R off fleebay. That makes six cyrus boxes and I only have a 5-box cyrus tri-arbour stand.
I'm going to try and hang/suspend the sixth box below the rest...somehow
As the stand is sitting on Nordost Pulsar Points, I have a bit of extra space below.
I can't add an extension stand to make 7 slots as would then be in front of the projector screen...and Mrs C would notice that
ps. noticed that repro PSX-R boxes are going up in price by £50 at the usual dealers.
I'm still in the club.
Still got the same HiFi and head-fi and still totally happy with them both.
I was almost tempted by some very cheap second hand ADM9RSS's but it wasn't to be.

My LX53 is going to a good home at the in-laws - I couldn't resist the opportunity to upgrade to the 85.
Still in the box. With a 9.1 system, preamped to a Cyrus stereo setup, and hdmi and optical/coaxial inputs...I've got a lot of cable labelling to do before the switchover
Job for the weekend, I think.
