RE: The " Hi-fi is for life club "

I wavered recently - almost upgraded my X Powers to a pair of Mono X300s, but then decided against. House too small and it would only lead to wanting bigger speakers and so ad infinitem. I think this is the moment I stop and just enjoy the music.

Unless I move into the big house I always wanted, and therefore can get the B&W 800s that I always wanted...I'd like to apply for membership.

Application accepted DC, well done on resisting the urge to upgrade. You may now stick on all your favourite tunes and relax.  excellent!

I would not have botherd with the stop gap cartridge if I had realised re tiping of the original was only going to take a week.

Do I need to go to the 'confesional', repeat '10 hail hifi's', crawl on hands an knees to the Bristol show.

Of course I have all the re instaling and comparisons to do in reverse when I get home on Thursday . . . Forgive me Father Moon, have I sinned . . . puzzled

I can't see any wrong doing, after all, all you are doing is replacing a part that had failed. You will of course experience doubts as the weeks roll on. Just bask in the fact that you are no longer a tinkerer, upgrader or compulsive box swapper. you are free to enjoy music with excellent kit! good job

Is this a case of "patent pending" or only "patent applied for"?!  Tongue

Maybe I should join!

Auditioned some expensive (~ £7K) equipment last week, shortly before going to three orchestral concerts, and was quite taken aback by how hopeless it is to find anything that can compare to a live event. So guess I'll stick to what I have got.

I am still using my 1970 Thorens TT and have replaced my amplifier and speakers once since then, so I have a good record in not replacing my main equipment. However my sources change – NAS, DAC, internet radio, streaming, etc, have changed in the last few years, and may well do so again in the future.

Do I qualify? My turntable is over 25 years old and still working very well, especially with some of my 60s to 80s vinyl playing on it.

Having only recently relegated my 30 (ish) year old system in favour one which will see me out (ulp!) might I be considered for membership? I know I don't post very often at the moment, but this is the kind of club that I like. Rare they are!

Hi Andrew, nice post. You are allowed to add more sources just not allowed to upgrade ones you already have.
