Teufel's new products - AirPlay speaker, Play:5 equivalent & high end active floorstanders
Visited Teufel's website today, & have just noticed a host of new products, most obviously influenced by acquisition of Raumfeld.
1) iTeufel Air

2) Raumfeld One (Sonos Play:5 equivalent)

3) Raumfeld Speaker L (active floor stander which is compatible with Raumfeld system)

Interesting English translation of iTeufel Air's German review:

"iTeufel the Air is directly available from hell!"
Also, in the bottom table: Manufacturer: Devil!
Does Teufel mean "Devil" in English?

Yes, it does! When I heard the brand name for the first time I did not believe that such a name is possible for a serious manufacturer (especially after seeing years of Tefel costume for Halloween / Carnival)
That's very interesting!
Any plans to review these products WHF? They do look very classy. The floorstanders are very unique products unlike anything else in the market today.
Interesting indeed. I'll pass this link on to our First Tests editor Andy Madden and see if we can rustle up some review samples.
Dont they make kettles?
They are big in Germany, seem to sell a lot of rubbish though. The Active speakers must be good though, they are active, dont you know
Are they actives or powered? The manual keeps talking about a slave speaker.
regards
Powered I think, there only seems to be one amp.
Two speakers powered by the one amplifier (housed in one of the speakers) which cable-feeds the other speaker.
...see the very bottom lines of the' technical details' tab.

I haven't found Teufel kettles when I looked online. I've found Tefal kettle if that was what you mean, which is a different company.
I get the feeling that not many people have actually heard the Raumfeld system in action here in the UK – so thought I’d share some initial thoughts. I plumped for the Raumfeld 3 months ago primarily because I fancied something other than Sonos. In addition the inclusion of an integrated hard drive and the option to have more traditional speaker pairs swung it for me.
I’ve been massively impressed so far. Aside from all the joy that having the internet music and radio services (as you obviously get with Sonos) on the same controller as my own music, I’ve been surprised (and relieved) by the quality of the sound.
Given that there is no way of hearing the kit before you buy (although they try and compensate with a long returns policy), I was a little apprehensive about the performance of the active speakers but they’ve mostly exceeded my expectations. I’ve got the M speakers on stands and the sound is excellent - I have to remind myself that I’m not listening to a traditional wired CD set up. The Raumfeld one speaker is also very capable and solves the ‘kitchen’ requirement. The smaller S speakers are doing a pretty good job in one of my smaller rooms but they are the weakest performers especially if tucked away on a shelf.
As far as I can tell Teufel are working hard to match up to most of the Sonos features and services. Having different people in the house creating different music zones (or synching it all up) is a revelation for someone who’s been used to ‘one room’ music. The iphone and android apps are both decent although I still prefer their 70s style controller.
I suspect for this system to take off in the UK, Teufel will need to beef up their UK support and sales. Their technical support is good although they have a dearth of English speakers (no pun intended). And while I was happy to take a punt on the system, most are going to want to hear it before they buy!
Hi all!
Just chiming in to say we'd love you to test the speakers - IM me and I'll get your info. Our Raumfeld series is definitely the best selling product line at the mo, and they do sound great! We're working on a couple new highlights in the wireless line too ... coming up this year.
Thanks for showing interest! (And Teufel does indeed mean Devil in German - I've always wanted to say that I worked for the Devil, and now I can!) >)

Sense of humour failure....

Only on your part a point that is only reinforced by the fact that you're laughing at your own "jokes".
