Hey I'm looking for a portable hi-fi setup.
Is it possible to use a Marantz CD6004 with only headphones. Or is it necessary to purchase an amp as well?

hah, i meant to say that I'll be moving from the u.k. pretty soon so I need something small enough to take with me.
What is the difference in sound quality sans an amplifier, or anything else that would normally be paired with the cd player?
You can - it has a headphone socket and volume control.
Not very portable though - you'd be better off with an iPod
