PP, this isn't cno's list, it came from the magazine. Also, there is a standout streamer there, one which gains 110 pts but retails at half the price of the others in the 110 pt bracket.

Never said they were Cno's list, but Cno has brought it to our attention so there needs to be clarification. The Yamaha is the "standout product", so what does it retail at?

The list, by giving each product scores alone, needs to be more indepth and little more transparent.

Amp; CDP; Turntable; Tuner; Speakers

The Yamaha reduced here: http://store.sevenoakssoundandvision.co.uk/products/productdetail/part_number=NP-S2000/1765.0.4.3?gclid=CMSEp9Tqz60CFUIMfAodvxSLnw

The Sneaky is now returned to its price of just below £1k

Here is a crude sound per pound table based on a quick search of prices on the high street or internet highway ...

Logi. S'box Duet 95 170 558.8 Logi. S'box Touch 95 200 475.0 Denon DNP-720 A 100 250 400.0 Sonos Zone Player 95 260 365.4 Marantz NA7004 100 380 263.2 Nad C-446 100 550 181.8 Yamaha NPS 2000 110 700 157.1 Linn Sneaky 110 850 129.4 Rotel RDG 1520 100 790 126.6 MF M1 Clic 105 1300 80.8 Linn Majik DS 130 1880 69.1 Cyrus Stream XP 110 1600 68.8 Logitech Transporter 110 1750 62.9 Cyrus Stream XP + PSX-R 125 2100 59.5 Linn Akurate DS 140 4500 31.1 Linn Klimax DS 148 12950 11.4 Sonos Bundle 100 ? 0.0 Logi. Squeezebox 3 95 ? 0.0

The 0 scores for the Sonos Bundle and Squeezebox are because there were too many bundle combinations or the device is out of production.

The Sneaky can be had for £850 (but currently out of stock) and the Cyrus Stream XP have seen a price of £1500 and £1700 so I went for the in between price.

I think all the table shows what we pretty much already know, in that the higher up the food chain you go the less value for money you get, so it really only makes sense to compare streamers of similar levels of audio quality, then it's probably a case of looking at features etc. or whatever sounds good to you / floats your boat. Featurewise, the Sneaky has a built in 20W amplifier which would add £200-£300 or so on to any other device's price.

It also shows how far the Cyrus Stream XP goes up the table with its better power supply
(110-125)....that's a big jump.

Typical response  Smile , you could say that about any magazine! So it isn't WHF, and isn't English, does that mean it takes backhanders?? Linn also happen to make good products - can't afford them myself, but I'm not going to doubt their quality.

tino, the list shows you get what you pay for, plus reveals some bargains. Everything on that list is good VFM, mate, if you have the income. If you want the best, 9 times out of 10 you have to pay for it.
