Gentlemen,
a warm hello to you all. I decided i have come to a point where i need to retire mp3's and computer speakers and pay respect to musicians that i love with a "proper" hifi system and a lossless source. Please do not feel offended by my budget mark, i realise it is very low. But this will have to do for now and besides i want to start small and learn as a upgrade.
I will be going for a basic setup and would like your recomendations on how and where to spend my money. The setup would consist of:
- cd player
- amplifier / reciever
- pair of speakers
I would consider anything from the used '70 stuff up to new. I'm unsure on the specifics of the set (should i go for a reciever or integrated amp, should i invest more into a cd player, buy a dvd player or run music of my laptop for start and save up, should i go for a pair of 3 way speakers or 2 ways + sub or even forget the sub etc.
Preferably the amp/reciever would allow the addition of a phonograph in the future and possibly a connection of macbookpro (optical).
I listen mostly to jazz and old stuff from 1920-1990, vocal, old pop/funk, clasic rock and am looking to discover more clasicall music. I do like the sound of vintage, but as you can see i like all sorts of music so not looking for anything terribly specific.
The listening room is 3x6.5 metres, with the speakers standing infront of the shorter side if it matters. It needn't be loud, but rather full at low to medium volume.
So, how do i do this? Can you recomend me some products? And how safe is to buy vintage or used stuff?
Thanks so much,
regards,
Alexander
