Can anyone suggest a decent pair of speakers for the Arcam Solo?  Should be quite easy, and I have heard a few that sound very good, however I have a couple of constraints.....

1.  They need to be wall mountable.

2.  My budget is only £250 (the speakers I have heard are around the £500 mark)

I have heard the Kef Q1's which aren't too bad.  Does anyone have any other recommendations.

Also does can anyone recomend a decent wall mount for the speakers.

Many Thanks

I am now looking at the Monitor Audio RS1's.  What is the opinion of this combination?

Thanks

Re: Speakers for Arcam Solo

Since the Solo deserves better speakers than the ones you could
find on the market around the 250 quid mark, one solution would be to
try and find a good second hand deal - for instance for a pair of Epos
M12 (or M12.2) or even M5; or perhaps a pair of Dynaudios (52 or 42) -
these should go well with the Solo. Also it would be great if you could
find a bargain for PMC's DB1's - according to Hi-Fi Choice these would
be an ideal choice - but they're 650 new, so you won't be able to get
them below 300 quid at the very best...

However if second hand hi-fi isn't your thing, you could also
try Epos' ESL3 (at 200 quid), B&W's 601S3's (at 250) or Monitor
Audio's BR2 (at 200) (by the way what were the RS1 like?).  I guess all of these speakers above could be
wall-mounted...

Hope this is useful...

Good luck :-)

Re: Speakers for Arcam Solo

Many Thanks for your suggestions, much appreciated.  I ended up opting for the RS1's, managed to get them in the Sevenoaks sale with 25% off!

They lack some of the warmth of the more expensive speakers I tried, but having said that they do sound good.  It has made me want to go through the CD collection again.

Cheers
