Hi All

Hope all is well

My system is as follows

Proac Studio 140 driven by Musical Fidelity A3.2 Pre/Power Amp - Source Musical Fidelity A3.2 CD player
Currently using QED Silver Anniversary biwiring

I find that the music can be too overpowering in the base - would Kimber 8PR solve this ?

Just looking for simple upgrade in quality

before buying new cables, try moving the speakers further away from the wall (or closer)

Wow! Impressive speakers. As a matter of interest, what flooring do you have?  Do you have any solid surfaces near them that might accentuate the bass?  Are they standing directly on the floor?

QED SA isn't a bassy cable, if anything it's a bit bright.

I don't think the cable is the problem.

You could try some new interconnects. My Kimber Silver Streaks also have a slightly leaner than neutral balance.

If anything QED SA is lean, so the bass will not be coming from that.

Do you have your speakers in the corners of the room, or right against a wall either behind or to the side.

As the other person said, have a play around with various positions for your speakers.

QED doesn't do it for me.  Matbe better speaker positions and a better cable would help, maybe...

I had the MF A5, I found this amp was too overpowering bass wise, had to get rid as I couldn't listen very long before fatigue set in.

My Kimber 4tc gives a bassier sound than the QED SA XT I had before.
