Sound cutting out intermittently - what could be the cause of the problem?
After setting up my hifi again after redecorating, after a few plays the sound started to cut out intermittently - just for a second - while playing. This happened with CDs, TV, DVD, tapes, everything.
The problem got worse - the frequency of the cut-outs increased until it became constant interruption - and I reconnected all my cables. This seemed to work as the stereo started to play normally again and I assumed that when I had set up the system again I had wrongly connected a + into a - or something.
Unfortunately, though, last night the problem recurred while watching a DVD with the sound through the amp - the sound cut out - for a second at a time - every 10 minutes or so. My heart sank.
I'm not playing at excessive volume, although I notice if I increase the volume the cutting-out gets more frequent.
My amp is a Sony TA-FE230 and my speakers are Wharfedale Diamond 8.1.
Any help will be much appreciated.
