Black is objectively better and anything that anyone else says is definately incorrect
I have an AV cabinet with a solid door, so can't see the colour of my equipment - which is a mix of silver (Arcam), black (Sony, Pioneer) and tasteless dark brown-black (I'm looking at you V+ HD box!).
Hi Fi: Arcam A85, DV88 (CD only), Project Debut II, Sonos ZP90, AE Compact-1. AV: Arcam AVR250, DV79, Sony BDP-S760, Monitor Audio Silver 8i, RS-LCR, RXFX, Sonos ZP90, Pioneer KRP500A. 2nd AV: Pioneer SX-SWR2, Dell Zino HD, KEF KHT2005.2 eggs, Sonos ZP90. Cables: That Cable HDMI, Chord Crimsons, CAT6 backbone Sonos S5s in the bedrooms
Need to consider whether the colour of your cables goes better with black or silver
Sonos ZP90>Missing Link "Digit">Dacmagic>Chord Cadenza>Leema Tucana I>Van Damme UP LC-OFC>ATC SCM40s
Sonos Connect:Amp>Mission 760i and MA Radius 90HD in series
Sonos Play 5 x2, Play 3
And at the last moment I changed my mind and went for the PM 6004 in Black, to that I also got a pair of Boston A 26 in Black.
Hope it will be a nice match
Amps. Arcam Alpha 5 Plus - Marantz PM 6004
Speakers Snell J II - Boston Acoustic A-26
Tuner Nad 414
CD Marantz 63 KI
I don't think you will be disapointed all my a/v gear is in black & i think it looks a lot smarter.

Silver, I've got dark oak finish speakers sitting on a dark oak cabinet and the silver Denon amp sat between them really stands out. I guess if I wanted my sytem to blend in black would have been better but I want people to notice it. However, as some people have said some items and makes look cheap in Silver.
Rega Planar 2 - Pro-ject Phono Box - Denon DM39 - Cambridge Audio S30
Yep.... You guessed it..... Silver....
Hi-Fi: Arcam A85, P85, CD192. B&W 602S3, PV1, Grado SR125, Atlas Titan, Hyper 2.0.
A/V: Sony KDL-V40A12U, BDP-S760, Humax Youview, Onkyo TX-SR875, B&W MT30 7.1, QED HDMI-P, S.A XT
My Roksan kit was all silver and I would have preferred the Arcam to be silver but couldn't find one, so it's their blackish version! Swapped my black stand for silver to help lighten the room colour scheme.
Townsend Rock/Excalibur/Ortofon 2M Black, Arcam AVR500, Roksan Kandy cd, Monitor Audio Raduis 270HD10
Black for me, well mostly black; as Primare gear in black comes with silver knobs & buttons!
Best of both worlds?
GyroDec + HR PSU - TechnoArm A - Benz Micro ACE S - Icon audio PS1.2
Primare CD31 & I30 - Denon T1800 - Sony TC-WE475 - ATC 11 - Atlas XLR, phono & speaker cables - Clearer audio mains cables
My Silver Yamaha AS 2000 amp/sacd units with their wooden side cheeks look cool..........
Which ever's on offer!
