Dear forum,

a couple of years ago I got myself a second hand Linn Classik which I have to admit was about the best hifi investment I had made. At the same time I invested in a project xperience with the rondo red cartridge

I have since found a project tube box on eBay which considering it had upgraded valves was a steal at £42. Sometimes Ebay amazes.

Now I have a problem with the cd player section which skips randomly with no real rhyme nor reason. I have had it back to the store I bought it from and it still skips. Looks like it needs a new cd transport.

Considering we mainly play vinyl and the rest of the time we use our ipods, should we go for amp and ipod dock? We listen to an eclectic mix of music from Joni Mitchell to Pink Floyd passing through some eighties pop on the way.

Does anyone have experience of a similar transition and what do you recommend I audition. Bear in mind there is a credit crunch and as a nurse pay rises are off the radar for years to come!

How about you keep the Classik and just add an iPod dock or streaming solution for digital playback?
