Rega Brio-R + DAC and Naim Uniti - differences in sound
Hello! Has anyone compared the Rega Brio-R and DAC to the Uniti? What differences did you find and which should sound better?
I understand the Uniti is a all-in-one and more feature packed, but just looking for opinions based in sound quality.
Listened to a unitilite and the rega combo side by side..... I kept the Rega, however the uniti is a different beast and could be better for your ears, only you can decide if its worth the extra cash!
That's funny you should ask. I listened to them side by side today. The naim is warmer sounding compared to the brio however the brio has more detail and overall sounded like it had more oomf. I would get the rega personally but the naim causes a lot less fatigue since its warmer and pleasant.

Are you making reference to the uniti or unitilite ? 2 very different boxes

This is contrary to my findings. I would say the Naim is more proned to fatigue, more detail and less warm. Heard a lot of Naim separates over the years, albeit not any of the Unitis.
By contrast, the Rega dac is very warm sounding...
The uniti is £2700, the Rega Brio R & DAC is a £1000 - don't think you going to get a fair comparison there!
To the OP what is your budget?

Never said it was a like-for-like comparison, just commenting on the different sonic traits. And the OP needs a transport for the Regas that'll bump the price up a bit more...
Well, I have a Brio-R with a Bushmaster DAC which is a brilliant DAC and love the sound of the combo played through my Rega RS3 speakers, but was thinking of getting a Rega DAC and an Apollo-R for CD playing. All together, plus a streamer like a Squeezebox to replace the Airport Express, it would cost aproximately as much as an used Uniti or a new UnitiLite and I would save in power plugs and interconnects and boxes. Thus my question...
So, regardless of price and features, which should sound the best? Or is it just a sideways move and a matter of personal preference?
The rega combo sounds imho much better than the unitilite !!!
As for the uniti you need to compare them yourself
What about the Leema Pulse, has anyone compared it to the Brio-R?
