Hi,

I hope this isn’t again the House Rules, but I've decided to create a petition to try and get Record Labels attention as to the demand for High Definition Music downloads – 24bit 192khz – Link below

http://www.change.org/petitions/record-lables-release-24-bit-192khz-musi...

The reason why I’m doing this is because I’m really annoyed there is nowhere to download mainstream music in high definition. There are a few sites with classical music on or obscure music, but this is not what the majority of people want to listen to, and it’s not the music that I want to listen to either.

Forget arguments that the majority of people are happy with MP3 music for the minute. I genuinely think if the option was there for people, they would use it. I also think that this a classic example of how Record Labels are completely out of touch and don’t have any vision, just look at how slow they have been to make legal digital music downloads available.

I believe that this is a perfect opportunity for Record Labels to get with the times, by giving people what they want (albeit small market at the moment) and for them to make some money along the way (which isn’t a bad thing).

If you agree, please sign my petition. Thanks

If you'd said 24/96 then sure why not but 24/192 has more limited hardware support so may not be as popular.

+1. I think the file size / debatable improvement over 24/96 would limit to a select few. 24/96 has the potential to be a lot more mainstream maybe.

How about CD quality, as mp3 downloads seem to be CD prices? You might want to petition for the inclusion of album art and inlay/lyric sheets too.

I think your missing the point. Lets not fret about the minor details, surely agreement in principle is more important.

The sites that do offer high res downloads, offer different sampling rates anyway. So people can make an decison when buying.

The hard bit, is getting the music available in the first place.

Thanks

I know that many people are saying, it would be good to have CD's that werent totally compressed. But I honestly believe that if people got together, along with the backing of a major magazine, e.g What Hifi, Music Mags, specialist retailers etc, then the whole issue would get more attention.

The industry is just stagnating and in terms of sound quality, and in terms of downloads has managed to go backwards. Its been 30 years since cd was introduced, we deserve better.

Jeepers, let me sign, let me sign. I dont want to read what Im signing and you can change it all later, but I will sign anyway. The contract is about the detail, ask for what you want and a little more as a bargaining chip.

Who reads the small print anyway, Doh!

Hi Mike, Good to see you

Hi Mike,

Good to see you trying to spread the word over here as well as the Naim Forum, as I said on the Naim forum this is a great initiative that really needs backing as I'm sure there are a lot of poeple out there that would love to at least have the choice and I'm sure as streamers get more and more popular the demand for 24bit can only increase.

So have a bump on me so we can try and keep this on page one and get people signing up  Smile

Dear sometimesuk

Please can you correct the typo in the 'letter' then I may sign it. Yes, I'm that pedantic!

RE: Petition for High Definition Music Downloads.

I personally couldn't care less about the 'hi res' aspect of it, but I would like CDs/downloads to be available without the dynamic compression the loudness wars have brought about.
