I fear that might be a bit too late for me, as I think the dealer will want to move the Eloquence 150I on ASAP.

Nevertheless, I would still be interested in yours and Roby's thoughts if you do get to hear one.

BTW, there's a couple of dealers over here in the UK with your favourite speakers for sale; Central Audio and Midland Audio

Sure no problem!

Thanks for the advice, are those ex demo prices I guess, correct? SFGM at less than 5k GBP...interesting!

I think the ones from Central are used.

Hi,

Just been reading the specs on the Lavardin IT and noticed it doesn't have a tape output... disaster!

Not that I use tape still, but I do use mini disc quite a bit.

Is it the same with the IS Ref?

Good point Cno, will check it out.

I've managed to wangle a home demo with the Perreaux for next week and hopefully in the meantime, Roby will give his feedback on the Eloquence.

Cheers

Mac

Sadly Cno, the IS Ref lacks the tape loop facility too.
Lavardin really are minimalist in design.
Cheers

Have you considered Audio Analogue or Electrocompaniet?

Can't find any dealers for Electrocompaniet to get a home demo.

I think AE stock Audio Analogue, but I've hounded them for the dem of the Perreaux so much, don't really like to switch my attention to another.

Any particular models of these brands you'd recommend Cno?

Cheers

Mac

Here is a list of UK dealers for Electrocompaniet .

http://www.electrocompaniet.no/about/distributors_uk.html

Or if you are not in the UK here is the worldwide list .

http://www.electrocompaniet.no/about/distributors.html

Believe me when I say that it is worth the effort to try Electrocompaniet equipment .

I have heard Electrocompaniet amps described by others as Sugden on steroids  , I thinks they are far more than that but if that description appeals to you then please give them a try you won't regret it excellent! .

Electro's knowledge of Electrocompaniet is much greater than mine, but I would be looking at ECI-5 Mk 11: http://www.kronosav.com/products#ecwid:mode=product&product=6476578

The Audio Analogue model that I am thinking about is the Maestro Settanta Rev 2.0 (£2500):
http://www.audioemotion.co.uk/products/218/

I would recommend you give AE a ring on the various merits of Perreaux vs Audio Analogue vs Sugden. It would at least give you an idea if it's worth pursuing.

Cno

RE: Perreaux amps

If you fancy the ECI5 mk2 then there is nearly new one for sale at a very good price ,

http://www.audiodestination.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath...

Here is the technical spec and a few reviews .

http://www.electrocompaniet.no/products/classic/integrated/eci5MKII.html

It has a lot of similar qualities to the IA4 but goes deeper and is far more powerful sounding in the bass , it copes far better when the music gets complex or has a lot of powerful transients and is an extremely transparent amp that never seems to put a foot wrong no matter what type of music you like .

If you get a chance try to get a home demo , it is worth a phone call to Audio Destination because I have found them very helpful in the past and I am sure they will do their best to help you .
