o'heocha speakers

Hi

I have inherited some O'heocha speakers (with stands). They are box new and unused but some 10 years old purchased by a relative who never ended up making use of them.

I am a newcomer to hi fi and most of the music I listen to currently is stored on my mac pro.

I want to boost the sound quality and to be able to go louder than my pro will allow.

I intend on purchasing a Naim DAC V1 and NAP 100 and thought I could make use of these speakers.

I have searched the internet but can't find any reviews or setups involving these speakers.

If anybody has any information about these or if my proposed set up will give a decent sound then I would appreciate any feedback.

Thanks in advance

Hi Amitduggal,

Try http://www.oheocha.com/ as a starting point, and see if you can find any info there. There is also their contact details on the site as well.

They look out of this world! Which model do you have?

You certainly should look into their impedance curves before deciding on proper amplification.

RE: o'heocha speakers

Thanks for getting back DocG!!

I have been in touch with the company and it turns out that the ones I have are very similar to the D1-T's. So I'm afraid they are not the crazy looking ones on their website.

It was actually Aonghus who I believe owns the company that got back to me so I was very impressed he bothered. He suggested an amp that puts out about 50 Watts (RMS) per channel and something that is not too bright on the treble as he advises the speakers are very revealing.

If you have any suggestions, then I would like to hear them.

Thanks again

I'm far from an expert as for amplifiers. The specs look fine (not that sensitive, but an 8 Ohm nominal impedance). Could you ask Aonghus what is their lowest impedance, and at what frequency they dip?

The 86 dB sensitivity is fine if you listen at moderate levels, but you will need a powerful amp if you crank it up every now and then.

Another thing: what budget do you have in mind? (Not a clue what price range these speakers are, but they look very posh).

Do you like valves or solid state? What 'convenience' do you need (remote, tone controls, number of inputs, ...)?
