Noticeable hum through speakers
Thought I would start a new thread for this one!
I got my Quad 44 pre amp back last week after being serviced. I now have a strange problem.
With the Quad 44 connected to the Cyrus Smart Power’s with a 4-pin DIN to RCA connector I get a very noticeable hum through the speakers. I have also had this once using the RCA output from the Quad. No sources are connected.
From some research I’ve done it sounds like an earth loop problem. I have also contacted Quad and they gave me a few suggestions to try to eliminate the problem.
If I turn off the Quad the hum is still audible which is strange as that should kill the power from the Quad. I have to turn off the Cyrus amps from their rear switch.
I’m going to try a few things tomorrow such as using a different wall socket, trying the RCA outputs from the Quad again and seeing if I still get a hum by disconnecting the 4-pin DIN while it’s humming.
Anyone got any ideas as to what could be the cause and what else I can try to fix it?
