Hello,

I would be grateful for your advice on some replacement speakers for my Denon D-F102.

To give a little background, I’ve “downsized” to the Denon from a Sony separates system (from the late 90’s, when they did the “Brooklands Edition” stuff).

The physical size of the system (particularly the floorstanders) was a bit much for the room (and partner), so when the amp died, I thought it time for something new that would do a good job, but was more suited to the room.

The system gets used mainly for pure listening (CD, radio and PC), but gets occasional use for TV and film too. The room it is used in is approx. 15 by 21 feet. The speakers will go on stands, but may not be “perfectly” placed, due to the layout of the room.

I’ve got the following on the shortlist, and would be grateful for your advice or experiences before I get down to testing them.

Wharfedale Diamond 9.1

Monitor Audio BR2

Kef IQ1

Mordaunt Short Avant 902i

My other question is whether it would it would be worth sticking something from the class above on the end? Might any of the following options give me a little more from the Denon?

B&W685

EPOS M5

Quad 9L2

Wharfedale Evo2.8

If it helps, I'm using Chord Carnival Silver Plus at the moment.

My reasoning on this is that I’d like to get the best out of what I have at the moment, and also allow room for the system to develop as time goes by (i.e. when I can afford it, and have a bigger house!)

Thanks.

Jason.
