New Cyrus "CD Transport"
English

Just seen that Cyrus have launched a cut-price CD transport called...."CD Transport".

http://www.cyrusaudio.com/product/cd-players/cd-transport?utm_source=Email+Campaign&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=195837-November+2011+Newsletter

which at £750 seems a lot less money than the CDXTSE2 (£1,550).

As I've pulled together a mono-powered (X-powers) Cyrus system for stereo use, but have CDs and SACDs played through from my existing Cambridge Audio BD751, I've been wondering if I would gain anything from having a dedicated Cyrus CD transport.

Has anyone compared the CA 751 with the CDXTSE2, or even the new "CD Transport" (perhaps a Cyrus dealer?).

Though I expect I'll have to try to borrow one from a dealer to find out myself.

RE: New Cyrus "CD Transport"

Of course we did write about the Cyrus CD Transport a few weeks ago, from the Manchester Show - news story here Smile

But not much info (or actual product for us to try) at the show. We look forward to getting one in for review

Brands represented include Astell&Kern, Audioengine, B&O Play, Canton, Flexson for SONOS and SONOS

Thanks Clare,
As there's little chance of a Cyrus dealer also having a 751, I think I  might try to borrow one from SSAV to see if I can hear any benefit. As the 751 also plays SACDs and blu-ray audio discs (pretty well), the Cyrus would have to be a significant improvement to be worth the equivalent value of increasing my CD/Vinyl collection by more than 75 CDs or 40 vinyls.

We've actually got a Cyrus CD Transport on the premises (it must have sneaked in behind Clare's back while she was being busy and important elsewhere) and it's reviewed in the January 2012 issue (on sale December 14th).

Thought I'd check again if anyone has demo'ed or bought one of these, in advance of the WHFSV review next month?

I've tried my local branch of SSAV (Sevenoaks), and they don't have any (even a demo unit).

Just seen the CD Transport feature in Jan 2012 edition, in the "One-make Systems" article - but very few details of its own audio performance.

Have the team at WHFSV had a chance to compare it head-to-head with its more expensive stablemate the CDXTSE2 ?
