need advice on pre-amp+dac

hello to all whathifi members, is my first post here in the very popular forum and am seeking advice for a new pre-amp(built in dac). I was using my rotel ra-972 pre then split signal into two amc 2445 (as if its an mono) to feed my sonus faber concerto. I wanted to upgrade my system and was given a quad 909 by fren of mine so I wish to purchase a better pre with built in dac. benchmark dac 1 pre/hdr catches my interest with it's performance over price review. I wonder would anyone think its gonna be a good combo? advices were much appreciated. thank you
