which one of the nads c542,c545 or c565 together with the c352 amp will be best for metal and riff oriented rock pls?good bass as timing and punch are essential..
Nad C352pd,C545bee,Denon DNP720ae,Panasonic DMP BDT500,JBL l830,Rel Stampede,Chord Cobra+,Atlas Element Integra and hundreds of assorted guitar driven cd's and dvd's
C545 or c542. Not the C565 (but that's my opinion)
The C545BEE is the best out of the lot of them (the C565BEE is basicaly the 545 but with USB input)
The 545 has a solid, punchy and open soundstage BUT...
If youre open to suggestions I can highly recommend the Rega Apollo. I went from the C545BEE to the Apollo and it made a world of difference. It really is a superb CDP!
Living room: iTunes to ATV 2 (via AirPlay) to Cyrus 8 DAC with KEF LS50 speakers - Tellurium Q Blue cables
Spare room: Marantz CR603, AirPlay, Monitor Audio RX2's - Chord Odyssey 2 cables
Thanx for the replays,i thought the synergy between the c352 and a nad cdp will be best..also the rega is more expensive..is the c545 really much better than c542?
The synergy is very good indeed but the Rega works very well also.
Teh C545BEE is better than the C542. A better DAC and gives a much more open & detailed soundstage but with no harshness or brightness. Plenty of solid, deep, taut bass as well
Regao apollo's on eBay:
Overpriced but worth looking at: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REGA-APOLLO-CD-Player-with-remote-lead-instructions-/221179379963?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_CDPlayerSeparates&hash=item337f5180fb
Btw, what speakers are you using please?
All the best

hi Rick,i have the jbl l830-big 3 way bookshelfs and a rel stampede sub
Thanks for your reply.
obviously the c542 is gonna have to be sh,whereas the c545 could still be found brand new...is a sh cdp not a risk really considering nad cdp's reputation for developing a problem?
