Noticed in the buyers guide (2012 awards edition) that the QED performance 2 as dropped a star, checked out the reviews section and yep, its lost a star. Naah sorry, you guys are wrong on this one. Its a better interconnect than the Crimson Plus - quite a bit better too.

The top end is sharper and more defined without being as aggressive as the Crimson Plus, the mid range is more dynamic and picks up more detail/neuances and its better with vocals than the Crimson Plus.

But its the bass, the bass is better, it goes deeper and its easier to hear differences between low notes/textures between instruments, bass stops and start and is less like low midrange. I own both these interconnects and although I have a modest system, its good enough to differentiate between cables.

The QEDs deserve their 5 stars more so than the Crimson Plus, sorry, but they do. Not trying to put nothing out there or anything like that, but sorry....you're wrong on this one.

I'm sure they'll apologise for their error and try and employ you tomorrow, given your obvious and superior expertise.

Noted for next time......

Major, what are the Mission 794's like - there are no reviews for them that I can find only a topic by you I think trying to drive them with a marantz m-cro603 midi/style system on this forum.

Are they the smaller of the floorstanders in the range 80cmx17x30 ?

How good are they?

Oh man, don't hit us with those negative waves this late at night...

You can edit your initial post anytime. It's been a recent addition for about a month now.

You're both wrong. Those interconnects are both the same, unless one is really really bad Tongue

Definitely an anti-lead type. Woof, woof, woof! That's my other cable imitation.

A review is an opinion, just like your own thoughts. Also remember that every system is different and whilst the QED might work better in your system, the star ratings will reflect how well the two cables work in a variety of systems and, more particularly the most popular/best reviewed set-ups. It really isnt a big issue.

Yes the 796 are the larger ones. What are they like...great clarity, good midrange separation, good imaging, fantastic top end, but with the wrong material and source components they can shout at you and make some music unlistenable. With my Marantz PM66KI, bass is deep but not as hugely forceful as I expected from a pair of three-way speakers (with side-firing bass drivers), but they might be better with a more gutsy amp because their sensitivity is below average. Their list price was £999 and I bought some last-of-line NOS items online from a dealer undemo'd for £350, thinking that no matter what they sounded like they were going to be superior in every way to my Mission M73s which were only £250. Real truth is, even at four times the price, some things they're better at and some things they're not. Goes to prove that you always need to listen. Oh and their deeply-lacquered finish is absolutely superb.

Too true - I've recently changed my speaker cables back to the SilverScreen. Does that mean they are better than the Odyssey? Nope, but it does give my system better balance.

Yes they do indeed look lovely, they're the same dimensions has mine, the 782(se). I really wished WHF would review them, but I suppose they probably will never be reviewed as the standmounters got a poor review, shame really. because if my speakers had a major failure I'd seek out a pair of those 794.

I'd have thought they'd need power in the same way the 782s need power/control to get the best from them, also suprised the 73s can 'match' them in certain areas -  thanks for taking the time anyway.

Your point is??

The Chords work best in my system.  Doesn't mean I think they are better cables than the QEDs.  I certainly don't feel any loyalty to the Chords.  I might be using them for my CD player but I'm using Atlas Equators IIs on the Squeezebox and Audioquest Evergreens from the TV.
