There is bluetooth output per se.... But the incoming bluetooth signal can be sent out digitally via the coax/optical/AES output into a digital recorder or another DAC.
yes. No volume control. I think they leave that to the M1 SDAC.
Thanks for replying! Are you saying there is BT output? I ask 'cos although my Sennheiser MM450s may not be the last word in SQ, they do make me want to never return to corded phones!

Many thanks for an informative and entertaining review - looks like a great upgrade path, however
And no...unfortunately...CLiC cannot be connected to this DAC. That would be perfect.
having to go to another manufacturer for a streamer to enable convenient access to internet radio, network storage etc via the DAC would seem to be a major limitation. Maybe MF wil come along with a solution?

thanks for comment.... You mean one have to purchase a streamer from another brand to connect to this DAC? Besides the higher range of Olive and Bryston BDP1 and 2, not sure which other streamer that can be connected to another DAC. And I think the limitation is more on the CLiC rather than this DAC.
I think as long as the streamer has Digital Outputs (either coaxial or optical) it can be fitted into any DAC to upgrade the sound.
I use a Cambridge Audio stream magic 6 purely for Internet radio and run it into my PS Audio Perfectwave DAC via a coaxial cable from the CA.
But yes El Hefe, I think the limitation lies with the CliC - MF really should have provided for a digital output. It's such a pity they didn't....
Brilliant review which must've taken you ages to write. To clarify something for you:
Some early (1980s) CDs were recorded with a boost to the upper frequencies. CD players are able to detect this and reduce the upper frequency range correctly so the audio is 'flat' again. Some CD players of the era (notably some of those made by Technics, but no doubt there are others) had an LED which indicated when a CD with pre-emph was being replayed. Why pre-emph? To reduce any low-volume HF 'hiss' from the ADC / DAC circuitry, almost a bit like how Dolby NR reduces tape-hiss.
Out of over 500 CDs, I only have one CD recorded with pre-emph, from 1987.
Happy to help.

Interesting review of the M6 DAC, I am still looking for a DAC and waiting for the Naim V! before I start demoing again.
I found using the Clic as a dac was far superior to the MF dac which I was not very impressed with whereas the Clic is the best dac I have heard so far.
How does playing the tracks via the clic through your amp compare with playing through the M6 dac to your amp if using the same source ?

Salute and thanks for the info...I shall dig up my CDs pre-90s and check for this if I have one...
You mean CLiC DAC is better than this M6 DAC or the M1 DAC? I have not compared CLiC vs M6 DAC yet....but comparing to M1 DAC, I prefer the M1 DAC although it is cliamed that they share the same DAC chip.
I found the MF Clic vastly superior to the MF DAC on my system and this was puzzling as they both claim to use 'same' dac, I have tried this twice and each time came to the same conclusion in demo rooms. THis wasn't a slight difference, I believe some may say 'night and day' which is why I did the test again at another dealer.
You obviously have a different conclusion so may be down to set up.
I found the Clic a good upgrade over both the mdac and rega dac and at the time was over budget but may stretch to it now, as said before I will be doing more demo's when the Naim V1 dac comes out and will also compare with NAD M51 .
