Musical Fidelity M1 Power Amp - Personal Review
Hi all,
I dont know what happened to the first posting. It came out all funny. And There is no delete option.
First impression....another impressive product. I am using them as monoblocks to run tweeters on each side. Its a bit on a harsh side.Need a bit running in I think. Whats stands out now is actually the bass. The M6i now is just running the woofers. And its cleaner and even more controlled than before. Just have to wait for the M1 PWR to run in a bit so hopefully it mellows down on the treble.
I had a listen to one the other week, I thought it a little bright, which is why I only listened to it briefly. I preferred the Caspian M2, but of course, you can't use those as monos.
I hope it calms down a little for you. Enjoy.
It is actually on the bright side which is quite surprising for an MF product. Especially these M series. Maybe this is a Class D amp characteristics? Or maybe it needs running in.
Listening to Hotel California hi res now. i can hear some sounds from the snare drums that I didnt hear before. Hhhhhmmm...
. I preferred the Caspian M2, but of course, you can't use those as monos.
But you can use the Caspian power amp with the integrated for a biamped system, bass & treble driven seperately, which amounts to the same thing, I think.
Talking of which , what's user opinion on the Caspian M2 amp?
That is right jerry. You can bi amp those roksan which is similar to the M1. The only reason I am running them in monoblocks mode is to get more power.
I tought your plan was a M6pwr

That is still the plan. Just testing these babies against my D18s. Also I have never heard a Class D amp before.
Hi El Hefe I am thinking about changing my m6i for a m6 500i I am not sure that there would be any benefits to adding a mf power amp to my m6i I do like bi amping and can hear the improvements but I love my m6i and I think the m6 500i will bring the extra bass plus detail etc

IMO. You should hear what an AMS 35i can do before making any decisions. Despite being only 35W, it (imo) is much better......Acalex and Roby found the same thing.
Hi Cno Evil I will give it a listen the m6i is such a massive improvement over my audiolabs which i have lived with for 15 + years .I must admit that I have found in the past that more power seems to bring better sound quality but I will give it a go thanks for your advice( speakers and cd player are up for an upgrade to when I get the time to start looking/ listening)

Hi toyota man,
Dont rule out bi amping completely especially if you like how the M6i sounds. I too am a bit cautious to purchase the M6PRX as it cost about GbP3000 and not sure how much more SQ can I get from bi amping. But after setting up these M1 PWR, I am 're-convinced' that bi amping does give me a different and a more detailed listening experience. And these babies have not even been properly run in yet.
It is now been running for 12 hrs....and its 530 am here in Malaysia. I am listening to Aaron Neville and boy....these M1s are definitely worth the money. The treble is sweeter than yesterday. Not that brightor harsh.
Hi Cno Evil thanks for that I will put the ams 35i at the top of my list it sounds right up my street maybe bi amped with ams 35p
....It will also heat your room nicely as well!
