Anyone downloaded Massive Attack's Blue Lines 24/96 remaster?

Is it an improvement?

Anyone checked with Audacity for compression? (The original has now't.)

And it's good to see the price is a fair-ish £14.99 good job Linn Records kindly note Angry

if no-one buys these overpriced downloads they will start reducing the price

its just ones  & zeros  after all and you do not even own the copyright and can,t sell it

just buy the real hirez version , odd format called vinyl

Erm, guessing that neither English or French are your forte: Quoboz's €12.99 download is "Qualité CD (Lossless 16 bits 44.1 kHz)", this thread is regarding the 24bit/96kHz version  doh!

Next...  ohhh sure

crikey!

I thought I was alone!

My impression of 24/96 hi res...... its sounds like vinyl and I love it!

So just buy a good pressing on vinyl until the price drops!

However I think I will invest in the new remastered vinyl double LP

Contrary to popular misconception, nearly all music has always had some compression applied, sometimes during the actual recording, sometimes during the mixing, and sometimes during the mastering. It's just that we don't want them to add any more than what was on the original master  Smile

oh yeah!

Allthough the difference is subtile, it is there. The 'whooochhh' at the beginning of Unfinished Sympathy is even better.

As usual the Rega shines, nothing new there Wink

Is it worth the money? personal of course, but I'm happy I bought it.

Just to play devils advocate, is that due to the remaster or the hi resolution? Not that I'd bother paying for the remastered CD and the hi rez download, I'd be interested to hear whether  The 'whooochhh' at the beginning of Unfinished Sympathy is better on the CD quality version as well.

Personally I'll probably pay for the hi rez download.

That was kind of my point. That the same improvements may be noticeable in non hi rez formats as well and may be due to the remaster rather than being 24/96. Then again, who is going to waste their money by buying the hi rez download and and a non hi rez format so that they can compare them  Wink

I know I wouldn't. I intend to just get the 24/96 download and enjoy the music.

Aww, gee, thanks for your help.

And there was I interpreting your posts as mere ill-informed and irrelevant pontification.
