Panasonic to release firmware fix for Onkyo HDMI compatibility problem

Panasonic TX-P42V10

Panasonic and Onkyo confirmed they were aware of the issue and were working on a solution. After lengthy deliberation, Panasonic has now come up with a firmware fix to cure the problem.

If you have one of the affected models – the Panasonic V10 or G10 series – help is at hand. Here's the full statement from Panasonic and Onkyo:

"A small number of owners of HDMI-equipped Onkyo home cinema receivers have reported connectivity issues between their product to some recently manufactured Panasonic flatscreen TVs (V10 and G10 series).

A joint investigation between Onkyo and Panasonic has concluded this is caused by a firmware incompatibility. Onkyo and Panasonic have jointly agreed that Panasonic will shortly be offering a firmware update to resolve the issue.

Existing owners of flatscreen TVs that support Viera Cast functionality are able to automatically receive the firmware when upgrading the Viera cast system. In case of any difficulties we ask that customers contact their local Panasonic Customer Support Department.

Existing owners of flatscreen TVs that do not support Viera Cast should contact their local Panasonic Customer Service Department for further information on obtaining the update."
