Making the best of what you have: positioning/mounting speakers
I plan on getting some new speakers for my Rotel RA-04. I would have no quarms about getting some good quality stands with them if this was a practical solution. However, I listen to music through my PC, often when I am sitting at my PC. I have a wooden desk and then a monitor shelf where I put my currently speakers, on either side of my monitor. There is no room either side of this desk to put speaker stands next to it and even if there was they wouldn't be high enough. My desk is also fairly close to a wall. I obviously want to maximise my investment with the new speakers, but I am concerned that with them being close to the wall or being mounted on a wooden shelf on a desk will have a very detremental effect on the sound. One suggestion from a salesman at Sevenoaks S&V was to put Blue-Tac on the corners of the base of both speakers. Can anyone offer any other help?
