Given how you've promoted them, I sincerely hope they are the bees knees.
There is a chap on here who runs the R500s in smallish room and loves them. They are also on my wish list after overhearing someone else's demo recently!
Synology 212j, Sonos Connect, Leema Elements Dac, Pro-Ject Debut, Arcam A38, Kef R100, Chord cables
I'm foolhardy enough to put my neck on the line more than is probably sensible.
Which amp will drive the R500 the best?
Depends on price, but I'd be looking at something like an Electro ECI-3.
Also not a MF or a Marantz.
I'm not sure whether I have absorbed Cno's enthusiasm for them, but the R300s and R500s are the lead runners in my current upgrade fantasy after I get myself a new amp and source.

He sure is a keen Kef bunny. Have to admit I haven't heard any Kef for years so I'll need to reserve judgement until I do.
I suppose I am in a way.....though it's more toward the R Series / LS50s. The Refs are great, but at that price have some very serious competition.
I generally don't buy into hype, but very occasionally a product comes along that actually deserves it.
There's also a lot of comp around the £1000 mark. That's the problem I have. How does one narrow down 'the list'?
It usually comes down to what you have within reasonable driving distance.
Not very hifi, but very true i'm sure.
