Whay IS a fecker ? Why the twisted face ?
It's sort of Irish slang for a (very) lost cause........and it's very twisted logic to use scrawniness as justification to eat buns. It's something a f e c k e r might do.
Don't pay too much heed - I'm inclined to ramble a bit at this time of night......but should be grand again in the morning (after capuccino and cake).

Hit & run, I like your style
Whether I could run or not, might well depend on where she shoved it!
You might be surprised how fast you can run with the right motivation
Better stay away from those buns!!! though, they'll probably slow you down

For f e c k ' s sake, this is supposed to be a family-friendly forum...
I'm very friendly - I just walk funny.
Isn't that the part when you beat a stategic withdrawl whilst telling your mate to man up & tell her who's the boss?
No.......it's when you have to send them a bottle of champagne to return the status quo.
Ooo get you! Champagne hey!
Had a similar experience myself last year... accompanied a friend on a HiFi buying mission in an advisory capacity, but the wife was dead against it and I got the blame... so he's left with his little Brennan and 30 year old speakers.
No Champers from me though!
Accuphase E350 amp, Electrocompaniet EMC1UP CDP, Siltech 25th Classic anniversary 330I XLR Harbeth Super HL5 on Sound Anchor Quod ELS63 stands, Chord Odessey2 speaker cable. Grado SR60 headphones.
Desperate times call for.........cheap Champagne.
The R500 was the preferred choice, with the LS50 pushing hard on its heels; but in the end it was the extra scale that won us both over (I have always liked floorstanders). It's just as well the R700s were removed, or his wallet might have suffered spontaneous combustion!
As for amplification, we will wait to see how close the upgraded Sneaky DSM can get to the MDSM (it will be about £1k cheaper)........so we will be back in a few weeks to make the final decision.
Didn't you find the R500 a little bright? I meanin Hifinews i read this. Brighter than a Dynaudio Excite or Focus? But livelier?
No I didn't, but I can only speak about a particular system, in a particular room, and with the music that we used.
I am particularly averse to brightness, so if it was there, I would have noticed.
To give some context, I would say the IQ Series and especially the XQ Series, could more easily be provoked into brightness if they were poorly matched, or put in an echoey room.
Just out of interest would the MF M3i be a little light weight to drive the R500's?

I haven't heard them together, but I suspect it would do an admirable job....but of course, a better amp will raise the bar.
Just a thought as i have a £1500 budget in mind to upgrade my rears and sub...thought was if i can accomadate the R500(and iv'e had the tape out)not to bover with a new sub......(it will be used for av only)....but youv'e put me off the idea now....
The R500s would make quite an improvement to the scale of 2 channel. If AV is what's important, concentrate on the Sub (Paradigm Seismic 110).
The R500's would be for stereo music primarily.....but obviously would be part of a 5.1 av set-up.
Tbh not sure if i could offer the 500's enough room.Just a thought.
In which case, a really good fast sub, that is EQed to your room, could cover AV duties and give you the scale that you are missing in 2 Channel.
IMO. Getting this right should take priority over the rear channels, as it would have by far the most dramatic / beneficial effect.
