small speakers for this price? i rate the sound like the QA 2020i only a smidge more detail. or maybe like my ns-333 only with less thin sounding treble...dont find them particularly special these ones..

I suppose KEF could've made bigger ones, but the quality wouldn't have been as good. But then, they weren't meant to be large.

Can I ask what system you heard the LS50's in?

Of course, as with all speakers, there will be some that won't like their sound, and some that will have heard them underperforming due to the system they're being played in. I've already seen one retailer selling them as a package with a Marantz 6004 amp. Nothing against the 6004, but the LS50's don't seem to be the sort of speaker that can sing to the best of its abilities on the end of a budget amplifier.

I'll take a blind test of these against any other small speaker under £1k any day - they're distinctive enough to pick out - partly because of their quality, and also because of what they don't do...

Smile

Hi ear

I've heard very good things about the performance of Q Acoustics 2020i speakers Smile  Looking forward to hearing them.

All the best

I owned the 2020i and now own the LS50. Both are amazing speakers for the price imo. The LS50 are in a different class though. Wink

They would've been here if it weren't for an error at KEF - anyway, you know the score now Smile
