I'm out - in protest against this clandestine moderation
WHF staff, you should learn to trust your contributors more, not resort to secret policing because you doubt them. Smacks of ASIO.
How is it clandestine? Andy went to the trouble of telling us how it will work. I don't know of many other forums that are so open about their 'behind the scenes' operations.
"It isn't paranoia if they are really after you"
The problem is, you give a inch...
I don't know about WHF, but our forum attracts three pages of spammers every day, all picked out by security. If one of those gets through, it can be a nightmare, so a forum needs constant monitoring. If one does get through, they can lie in waiting, looking for their best opportunity...
As for regular members, agendas can start to appear of they're left 'unattended'. Who knows how many 'undercover dealers' we have on this site (I know it's rife on another forum)?
All forums need moderation. How it's done, I don't really care, as long as those mods don't start getting all high and mighty with it, as had been the case on another forum.
As they've said, it's a test period. Nothing to worry about
Perhaps because AL's posts are often argumentative and often unnecessarily so? (things that you're liable to read in the bible etc.)
Undercover dealers/ I'm lovin' this.

As David says, we have to moderate to remove spam, offensive comments, abuse and so on. It would be wonderful if we could trust everyone to abide by the House Rules, but sadly not everyone does and it's our job to make sure they do for the benefit of everyone who uses the site.
There really is nothing sinister here. Much of the move was driven by the fact that those of us who work on the site full time simply don't have enough hours in the day to moderate 24/7. Hence we need external help, and appointing extra moderators seemed the most sensible way of tackling this.
If you're not happy about it, so be it. Guess we can't please everyone.

Exactly..Its WHF's forum, you set the house rules and if some people don't like, they are as free as the next man to decide if they want to participate or not.

It would be interesting how you chose these outside moderators, random, out of a hat ect,,,,,,,,

Why? What difference would it make? The forum was moderated last week, it's moderated today and it'll be moderated next week. The only difference is there are more people doing it.
