Hi everyone!

I need your help. I want to build my own Hi-Fi system. Like a student I can't spend too much money for it. After some research I decided to by following (prices in Germany):

Turntable: Pro-Ject Debut III OR Pro-Ject Essential Basic - 250€

Amplifier with phono input: Pioneer A-30 - 240€

Bookshelf speakers: Heco Victa 301 - 180€

After buying all this stuff I will need to buy CD Player also. But now I dont have enough money. For the time being I will play my Pink Floyd vinyls.

What do you think, are there better choices in the same price category? I hope it is not a dummy question. Undecided

Thank you in advance!

I would look at used or ex demo gear if money tight and then you will have enough for a cd player.

Thank you for your quick response.

Yes. I will try it. But my question is, maybe to buy Onkyo or Denon? Maybe there is better turntable?

Rega TT are well regarded and about the same price. You could look at Marantz amps like 6004. If buying new try to hear them first thats the only way to tell.

Marantz PM6004 is a very good amp, but it costs 400€ in Germany. Rega TT also costs more than 350€. And what about regarding a Heco Speakers? Do they fit good together?

http://www.arcam.co.uk/products,fmj,integrated-amplifiers 300£ is about 351€  Pioneer a-30 is a cheap amplifier, the arcam FMJ 18 is a very good amplifier, i guess you could compared it to the rega brio-r but at a very low price in england 1000€ for a new amplifier might  get you a better amplifier then the arcam Wink

The newer model http://www.whathifi.com/review/arcam-fmj-a19

Arcam FMJ A18 is for me nearly impossible to buy. Because it cost more than whole of my budget.  Crying  Everything is so expensive here!

OK, and what about Arcam Alpha 3?

Of the old Alpha series I probably wouldn't bother with anything other than an Alpha 9 or 10.

Well if only Euro difference its worth hearing, its not so much about the cost but getting what you want, no good buying something because its cheaper and then not liking the sound.

The Arcam Alpha 3 is  agood amp. but 20 years old now, you should be able to find one on ebay for about Euro 40? The Arcam A18 is on offer for £300 in UK but job to get a new one now, most are ex-demo or ex-display.
