Want to buy my son some decent sound with a 'network' amp, what do you recommend, Onkyo 7030 CD + 8050 Amp + my old B&W 601s for GBP560 or Onkyo 755 + Monitor Audio BX2 for GBP500?

Greatly appreciated!

Marantz M-CR603 but not BX2's. Maybe some Dali zensors?

Two very different solutions that I'm sure your son will appreciate greatly, but I'd plump for the first choice, as I suspect that your lad would want to crank the volume up at times and I feel that the Marantz might struggle.

Believe me the Marantz does definitely not struggle to crank up the volume!!
