Help needed for a newbie amp problem !

Hi all, 

I am in the middle of extending my home and thought it would be a good time to fit some ceiling speakers around the downstairs area. I have 6 x Kef 160qr speakers but that's as far as I have got. I have had mixed advice as to other equipment needed as one store says all I would need is a QEDSS30 3 way switch unit and an amp and another says I would need 3 x amps and a host of other expensive stuff. It would be nice to control the volume in areas but other than being able to plug my iPod in I'm not overly concerned with streaming stuff and so on. Any advice on equipment needed ect would be most gratefully recived.
