Out of interest I tried replacing the jumpers with speaker cable and heard no difference. There has not been one real blind test that has found that this, exotic mains and speaker cables make a difference. End of story really. If people think it makes a difference to their system then fine it is your choice please do not make it like by spending zillions on a cable will make everyone systems sound better as it does not.
Ahaha, this is a funny post, really. Every time I update something I do a blind test with my gf without even telling her what we are testing (she wouldn't know anyway) and just asking what she prefers. And not one time...several time. And guess what? Every time I put a specific speaker cable she had a big smile on her face and picked that one each time (it wasn't the most expensive by the way).
But I am sure this does not count as valid as not documented, not reported on any magazine or website or anything...
Well done acalex...but be careful they will be insisting on 'double-blind' tests next.
Ah true...I can already see the mess I would make with my system in that case!
Hahaha I can picture it as a comedy sketch with you jabbing expensive cables in the wrong places
Yes and you might need to acquire a second GF to corroborate the first ones findings!!

surely, in the spirit of level matching, nothing short of 2 identical twin sisters will do. I hear brunettes have better ears
You gotta love this forum - we've gone from power cables to blindfolded girlfriends to, er listening tests (yeah, right) with brunette twins with, um good ears. Great stuff!
Hmmn. The reason that drug companies use double blind testing is that it was discovered that if the patient was unaware whether they were receiving a placebo or not but the clinician administering the drug knew, then the results were biased. It turns out that unintentionaly the clinician was giving cues to the patient that were being picked up and unconciously acted upon.
There is no reason to believe that anyone on this forum is immune from these effects. I have experienced first hand how convincing this can be.
Nah, it'll never catch on...
All we do on this forum is stereo-type
Whether we talk like Bach or Bart Simpson we are all (most) here to gain knowledge and discuss tech
Wow it really is quite sad that you old farts sit on this forum day in day out turning every thread into a sad little bickering contest.. No wonder the rest of the world laughs at the oldy worldy prim and proper toffs that we get stereotyped as (stereo ha, get it?).. I'm sure you won't bump into many people using modern (in the the last 25-30 years) and yeah some americanised words between playing bridge and the bowls club but it's ot out fault you're stuck in the 50's and it won't be our problem when your bured and the next generation just accepts these changes and get on with it.. The queen is more modern than some of the posters on here.. Get over it dudes!
"Dude an American English slang term for an individual. It typically applies to males, although the word can encompass all genders.
Dude is an old term, recognized by multiple generations although potentially with slightly different meanings. From the 1870s to the 1960s, dude primarily meant a person who dressed in an extremely fashion-forward manner (a dandy) or a citified person who was visiting a rural location but stuck out (a city slicker). In the 1960s, dude evolved to mean companion, a meaning that slipped into mainstream American slang in the 1970s. Current slang retains at least some use of all three of these common meanings."
and the award for the fellow with the most time to waste goes to....
Nice wiki-ing. I think the point is that whatever it might have meant before, since at least the 1970s it has simply been another word for man or person (as you can use it to address a gurl), like "guy" or "fella", "mate" &c. It means nothing more than that now, so I really don't understand the issue.
No signature worth mentioning...
Andy, when you bought your system, did you double blond (Freudian Slip ) test every element of it, just in case all amps and sources sound the same.....or did you just go and listen to a few options and pick the one you preferred?
If science is grappling with Quantum Mechanics and the likes of the Pauli Exclusion Principal.....surely accepting the possibility that a power cord might just make a difference, is not too big a leap.
Try a good one........you might just be surprised!
"Everything has been said before, but since nobody listens we have to keep going back and beginning all over again." André Gide
help a dude out and loan him yours.
Not a problem, provided he lives within sensible driving distance.......and he can set up a double blond test!
I know but I was making a more general comment referring back to the earlier implications that "dude" was somehow perjorative.
I doubt it's something people would say in an office (although to be fair that's exactly where my old supervisor used to say it) and it's not something I'd expect people in their middle-age to say (no offense) but it'll be a lot more common in this country than the word bleacher would be, given that that's a phrase that I only ever hear when I'm watching baseball, which is not something that many British people do.
Kinda proving my point about making niggling arguments and referring to things literally and out of context is as lame and smart ass as those people that say things like 'uhh the sky' when you ask them 'What's up?'.. You and everyone knows what it means so picking it out and making a big deal about it is pretty childish
