Upgrading the fuse or not, its still a fuse and thereby a restriction .................
....less of a restriction though.
A fuse with less restriction = a blown up amplifier!
The fuse isn't there to protect the equipment. It's to protect the cable (and you from it). Audiofile fuses are of coarse pure bull though....
Fuses are used to prevent abnormally high current (which could be drawn from a defective load) from both fire and safety perspectives. It's certainly not there just to protect that cable specifically.
Also, in the case of mains cables/plugs, the statement that the weakest/noisest/thinnest link in chain underlines the performance for the end user is not applicable in the arguement of whether they 'improve' performance for ampliers etc... It's not like data transfer.
Expensive mains supply cables might well propose they reject the high frequency signals from the 50Hz, which would be perfectly true. The arguments should focus around whether or not the cable 'improves' the signal as such that a) they are significantly noticable, b) applicable to all households and c) a 'cleaner' signal actually benefits the device at all.
Any scientific facts to counter my statements are welcome.
I said that fuses protect against fire and from you killing yourself, not the equipment... No doubt that if the fuse were ever to blow the hifi would have long been destroyed.
As I have found out to my cost, this is not the forum for scientific arguments. I asked on another thread for any links to independent studies that would substantiate claims made for mains cables or claims that replacing metal jumpers with speaker cable improve the sound.
I am still waiting.
Out of interest I tried replacing the jumpers with speaker cable and heard no difference. There has not been one real blind test that has found that this, exotic mains and speaker cables make a difference. End of story really. If people think it makes a difference to their system then fine it is your choice please do not make it like by spending zillions on a cable will make everyone systems sound better as it does not.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, how much do we owe you?
No signature worth mentioning...
Wow it really is quite sad that you old farts sit on this forum day in day out turning every thread into a sad little bickering contest.. No wonder the rest of the world laughs at the oldy worldy prim and proper toffs that we get stereotyped as (stereo ha, get it?).. I'm sure you won't bump into many people using modern (in the the last 25-30 years) and yeah some americanised words between playing bridge and the bowls club but it's ot out fault you're stuck in the 50's and it won't be our problem when your bured and the next generation just accepts these changes and get on with it.. The queen is more modern than some of the posters on here.. Get over it dudes!

Nah, it'll never catch on...
Ahaha, this is a funny post, really. Every time I update something I do a blind test with my gf without even telling her what we are testing (she wouldn't know anyway) and just asking what she prefers. And not one time...several time. And guess what? Every time I put a specific speaker cable she had a big smile on her face and picked that one each time (it wasn't the most expensive by the way).
But I am sure this does not count as valid as not documented, not reported on any magazine or website or anything...
.....a bit like expensive replacement power cables then!

All we do on this forum is stereo-type
Whether we talk like Bach or Bart Simpson we are all (most) here to gain knowledge and discuss tech
Well done acalex...but be careful they will be insisting on 'double-blind' tests next.
Ah true...I can already see the mess I would make with my system in that case!
Hahaha I can picture it as a comedy sketch with you jabbing expensive cables in the wrong places
