Floorstander (Recommendation )
English

Hi everyone,

I have recently moved in a new home..my lounge measures 4.4mX5m. however i dont feel the bass presence of the BX2 as i used to in my old apartment.  I listend to music ranging from ballads, blues, rnb, to hiphop, pop..

I currently have the As500 amp. I am looking for floor stander speaker with budget of £800 ;which have great detail but it has to have deep relistic bass with presence felt across my lounge. However Iam not incline toward loose bass which has no substances. I want feel the sound of a bass drum kick, sound of a double bass with texture and yet with confidence and strong presence. especially on tracks like.Limit to your love-James blake, the first i saw your face-Roberta flack

Currently in mind i have the Mission MX5 and B&W 684. i will appreciate if someone could Please advice me on these speaker characteristic in regards to lower frequency. and also other suggestion are most welcome.

Q acoustics 2050i are what you need. I've hot as500 with 2050 I and 684. Latter is more detailed and tight bass. The 2050i is like you have a sub in the room. Great speakers

Both the speakers you mention are well worth a listen, but I also think that you should consider the 2050is. They should work well with your amplifier and at around £420 are great value.

You could add a sub for about £400, that will give some real bass.

That James Blake track is a tough one to get right. I would add in the Dali Zensor 7 as a contender and you may wish to consider the new 100 series from Wharfedale - particularly if you want to play loud.

A sub is a good option

Thank you all for the favourable replies..very much appreciated..sorry for not replying earlier..i have not been well..

I am more incline toward the 2050i now but ..

However I have one question for   gurjitsidhu.. gurjitsidhu as mentioned earlier you have both 684 and 2050 i ..Which of the two’s can go louder at ease?? ..(as occasionally depending on my mood i can listen to certain track at a certain level)..and which of the two have better low ?(as you mentioned the 684 have tighter bass.).so does this means the 2050i bass are not realistic?

I will appreciate your  answer..

Thanking you in advance

fred

A sub is a really good option, your amplifier has pre-amp outputs which would be ideal for a sub woofer

RE: Floorstander (Recommendation )

Since your BX2's should be brilliant speakers(havent heard them though) a subwoofer would be the obvious choice. At "just" £400 the choice of subs are wide.

On the other hand i would say that i would prefer my stereo speakers to produce the bottom end by themself, except for movies and really bass heavy eletronic music of course. I very recently bought a pair of 2050i's and they can defiantly produce a large amount of bass if needed. As the What Hifi reviews says they are slightly polite and probably not as much on the edge as your BX2's, but i can also say that they do open up for some excitment after 20-30 hours of break-in.
Furthermore i believe that your AS500 amp is a much better match that my current Denon 1911 reciever as the AS500 should be the opposite of the 2050i's, so fear not the rumors about the 2050i's being dull. More exciting spearkers excist without any doubt, but the 2050i's are damn great speakers.

As you like the BX2, you could pick up BX6 or RX6 at the very top of budget. Worth a look at as your accustomed to the MA sound

You mention the Mission MX5, for less than £800 you could go the whole hog and get the Mission MX6!!

heard the MA RX6 and they sound really, really good. Ex display from a dealer can be very tempting. I have also found them brand new at just below 500. You cant get better for 500.
