Turntables and LPs
'Ello all. First post from your actual ageing, unashamed Prog Rock fan (amongst other things).
I am soon to be in the very fortunate position of being able to purchase an entirely new combined audio and AV setup. Combined, in as much as the primary source for the whole setup will be a universal disc player, sitting under a decent 50" TV, with stereo amp & speakers, plus quality headphones and headphone amp for late-night listening/viewing. This will all be setup in a fairly small, although sparsely furnished living room, facing down the length of same.
Don't want to spend £600 for something that won't play my burned discs rw+ rw- ??,through time I will put more and more on my iPod but I still like CDs
Anyone compared these speakers?
I have the 805S and am very happy with them but I might have the opportunity to get a pair of the L3s for a decent price used. They retailed for more than double the B&Ws when both were new and have had great reviews. And I have partnering equipment that you might think were more matched to the L3s price-wise - Leema Tucana and Chord QBD76.
The same thought processes have me wondering about Wilson Benech Vertex or even Discovery.
I am a frequent reader and forum follower, but seldom post as I dont feel qualified in many cases!
I just enjoy listening to music and have recently discovered and joined Spotify as a Preium customer.
I currently have an MCR 603 with B&W CM1 speakers. Which I will admit I am fairly pleased with, but I am able to upgrade and am very interested in any of the following:
1) Naim Unitiqute or lite (keep my speakers)
2) Above with new speakers that will compliment the sound signiture of the Naim?
3) Dynaudio Xeo 3
4) AVI ADM9...
I'm so happy with the X12 that I can not imagine a speaker sounding better but that is exactly what I thought before upgrading my HK990 to a Bryston 3B SST2 and was completely wrong.
Besides the great sound produced by the Dyns, they never have any glare nor do they irritate my ears, and I want to retain the characteristic in any speaker upgrade.
One of the things that i like about what hifi is their recommendations in music. A few years ago they recommended listening to a system with a Warren Zevon album. Now i had never heard of him but borrowed the album and was hooked. The hockey song would be one of my desert island discs. So when they said that daft punk album was one of the best of the year i thought that i had to have a listen. Well i know that taste is subjective and i consider myself to have a wide taste in music but really? The album is garbage, 80's synth at its worst imho.
Okay, so I've been looking around all day really for a system that I can use mainly with my MacBook Pro, and also occassionally with my iPod/CD's. What seems to be standing out is the Dali Zensor 1's with the Denon DM39. I was just really wondering if this would be suitable? But, my main question is how would I hook this up to play from my MacBook? Thanks in advance for any help!
My A400 is currently driving a set of Kef 103.2's, which I find just awesome and so neutral. Problem is the A400 jut doesn't seem to drive them. I am quite lucky where I live, that I can listen to my system quite loud, without upsetting the neighbours!!
Now I know the 8000a is a quality intergrated, but I have no way of auditioning one prior to purchase against my current amp. What are your views guys?
I've been browsing the internet for a new all in one system to play vinyls that I've recently started aqquiring, I don't know alot about setting up my own system so I was wondering if I could ask on here for some advice.
Anybody know about this ?
