Do 'small' floor standers exist?
Having agreed with The Lady that the recently purchased Tannoy floor-standers are a little too imposing for the lounge, can anybody tell me if approx 2ft floor standers are available please?
As a compromise I bought some Tannoy bookshelf speakers but am rather unhappy with the quality in comparison (stop laughing please - I'm a novice).
Until I happen upon some suitable replacements I'm using some (rather-impressive-but-too-bass-ey) Class D units I bought around 4 years ago.
Please help my ears.....
AVI Duo are 77cm's which is not to big, they're the only one's i can think of off the top of my head but there are probably others though. And i don't see them come up for sale to often, must be good.
Whip out the stands from under your bookshelf speakers and hey presto!

Or that
Neat Motive 2s sound ideal for your needs.
Edit: JD beat me to it!
spendor a3? 2 and a half feet tall. or get a shovel for the missus...
Totum Arro or Audio Physic Yara
Depends what you want to spend; back i the mid-90s Royd Minstrels would've been a preferred pick for a small floorstander. Of late, KEF iq5SE was a small floorstander. System Audio also make some slim floorstanders too.
All theses suggestions are ideal. What I will add is that floorstanders take up no more room than a standmouter, once you've factored the dedicated stands. This is the line that persuaded Mrs. P...
How about Rega speakers? Slightly taller about 2.6 ft...but you may consider it...
Thanks All!
+1 for Spendor A3s. They're not cheap, but sound good, look good and are tiny.
I owned some kef1q5se a bit over 2 feet tall but wouldn't dominate your room .nice sound ,my father inlaw owns them now and loves em .should be able to pick them up at a decent price second hand .
Give us a few more months and we'll have the Compact 3's ready...
