Hi there!

It's brand new cd player Denon DCD-720ae, hums when switched on.Its quite annoying in quiet room. And I'm not sure its supposed to be like that or I've got faulty unit? Noise comes from the box itself, not from the speakers, and it doesn't matter if CD is loaded or not. It starts humming only when it ON! It could be transformer or motor,I don't know for sure..You wouldn't notice when playing music ,or tv is on,but when it's quiet its very noticeable! It's my first proper HI-FI, so I can't compare with anything, none of my budget cheap micro stereo systems produced that king of buzz! Please reply if you have experienced (or haven't) same thing with Denon or any other brand CD player. Thanx!

No, I've not noticed that with Denon products and I have a few. Return to dealer for an exchange.

Did anyone else experience same problem? Please  help! When I brought it  to the shop, they said it's a motor 'working' , not a transformer. Despite it had no CD loaded, I presume it shouldn't be a motor. It's very tricky to prove that humming is in acceptable level or not. But should it hum at all?

Ask the shop to get another unit from stock and see if it does the same thing.
