A review in What Hifi should be nice
What HiFi is not as rose tinted as the other two magazines might be, which is why we´re nagging for a third opinion.
I have read the review. The Creek won the test and it was described as the best mid range amp currently available. The Arcam A19 also did very well in the test
Arcam A38, Marantz Pearl Lite CD , Spendor A3, Rega Planar Ortofon Red
I'm not so sure about the "rose tinted" part, but WHF tends to have different opinions from other mags. So it would be interesting to see another opinion. Though based on the HFC and HFN reviews I think it's fair to say that the Creek is a must audition in its price range.
M-Audio USB Transit->Benchmark DAC1->Beyerdynamic DT880 (600 ohm) / AKG K701
The May issue supertest with 7 amps missed to include the creek.
Yes, I noticed the Creek is missing too... maybe WHF are waiting for the Pre amp/CD/DAC and test them together and use the amp just as a power amp. They say that makes it sound even better.
Creek Destiny Amps, CDP
It would be good to have a group test with amps around £700, inc. Audiolab, Cyrus, Creek, Arcam, Naim, RK. etc.
There's just such a test in the May issue, on sale today

Why no Creek, seems to be plenty of interest in it?
If Creek don't submit a sample for review, then ... no review.
Marantz M-CR603 + AirPlay • Rega R3 loudspeakers • iPhone 5 • iMac • Apple Airport Extreme 802.11n • Apple iPad Mini • Panasonic TX-L32D25B • Sony BDP-S390 • Ruark Audio R1 Deluxe • Humax HDR-Fox T2
Fine, then the issue is sorted out. Will stop commenting about the missing Creek.
I think if I were a manufacturer with two top write ups from magazines, which I could quote in publicity, I might not risk a less enthusiastic one which would spoil the overall impression.
Creek clearly make good products which many people like. And if fans are curious there are plenty of dealers to listen at.
Hi-Fi: Krell KAV-300cd, Michell TecnoDec/RB250/Grado Prestige Black1, KAV-300i amp, Transparent balanced interconnects and bi-wire to Sonus faber Concerto grand piano speakers, Nakamichi ZX-7 cassette deck, Logitech Squeezebox Touch, Hitachi FT-5500 and Sony S570ES tuners, BCD Engineering stand, RA Powerlink, Chord powerchord, Grado SR60i cans.
AV: Sony Bravia KDL-32EX503 telly, BDP-S370 player with QED HDMI. Currently unused: Denon AVR-1705, DVD-1710, KEF KHT1005.2
Why not buy one, Im sure WHF can afford to buy it, Im sure they would get their money back from increased sales, then sell it on, probably only cost £100.
Actually there are no Creek dealers in my county.
Let me add that I've saved a lot of money by studying WHF reviews!
Lol, love it. Ken Kessler giving a rose tinted review, yeah right. If tis c**p he dosnt mess around. Neither does Bamford/Keywood etc etc.
Correct, WHF have the most relevant review rating system. WHF does not seem to consider the price tag, in as much as other magazines do. Best information for the ordinary public. Period.
