Comparing Twin Wolfson's in CA SM6 via SPDIF or CD's own output to amp

Hi,  I don't know if this is clever or barmy!

It occurred to me that the stream magic 6 has a co-ax SPDIF input, therefore utilising twin Wolfson DACs at output.

So, i know i can put the CD20R signal from SPDIF to SPDIF and use the stream magic to the amp, but would it be better to keep the CD20R direct as a source, would the CD20R DAC be better "outputting" direct to the amp than the Wolfson's?

I'm asking because I don't know if my interconnects are high quality enough to get the benefit and am prepared to buy a better cable but only need 1 of them if the Wolfson DACs would be a better performer.

Confused, so am I!

Thanks

Try it and see, if your amp has enough inputs you should be able to have the CD connected to the amp by analogue (thus using its own DAC) and by digital to the stream magic (and then the magic to the amp), play a CD, switch between the two inputs and see which you prefer. You'd need to ensure the levels are the same though across the two inputs, the brain has a tendancy to prefer a louder sound (it says here...).

I'm an interconnect short, that's the problem and reason for asking.

I Have two, one from integrated to power, the other being swapped over each time.

Takes too long to change, to compare.

I suppose I was asking if it was technically better, not audibly.. Which is silly, I know.
