Hi Rick,

work's dried up in derby at the moment but next time I'm around I'll be sure to pop in and have a listen  Smile (and the 19s and the 40s  Wink )

cheers,

Ben

Hi Ben

Sure and we'll hopefully have the new curved SCM19 and curved SCM40 monitors in too Smile

All the best

Rick @ Musicraft

Hi Rick,

for some reason I thought you already had the 19s and 40s in. I didn't have much experience of the old 19s but obviously know the old 11s and 40s very well so would be interested to hear both of the new iterations. 40s, 11s and maybe the C3C would make a tasty demo 5.1 setup, perhaps with your C6  Dirol

Cheers,

Ben

Hi Ben

ATC are putting the finishing touches on the new curved SCM19 and curved SCM40 passive monitors. I've used the new curved monitors in multichannel configuration (3 x curved SCM11 - L,C,R and 2 x curved SCM7 - SL, SR) with a C6 sub and this combination sounds stunning  Dirol

ATC multichannel monitoring  Smile

Anyway I'll let you know when they're available.

All the best

Rick @ Musicraft

Ah nice, that sounds like a tasty combo, I'd forgotten about the 7s. That's not a million miles away from my setup, well a bit of a better sub  Dirol What amplification have you been using them with?

Can't imagine them besting the LS50s.  Nothing does at that price IMO.

I haven't. With a 15 month old son and a lot of other things going on, casual listening to speakers I have no intention of buying is very low on my list of priorities. That's why I've never passed comment on the LS50s or made any comparison.

Hi alchemist 1

I take it that you've not listened to the curved SCM11 monitors yet? Smile Let me guess that you'll do so when a pair are broken in

I'm not sure why anyone would interpret my comment as me saying which is better?

His comment was illogical for two reasons:

(i) They're not the same price range. So 'nothing at the price of the LS50s bests the LS50s' is a redundant point. WHF, for example, consider each to be the best in their individual price range (and FWIW consider the 11s to be better than the LS50s).

(ii) jaxwired clearly hasn't heard the new 11s ('imagine'). It's therefore impossible for him to comment on which is better (just as it is for me). To suggest they *can't* be better suggests that *nothing* can be better, which suggests the LS50s are the perfect speaker. I've not seen anyone suggest they are perfect and cannot be bettered. Clearly from the FR graphs I've seen they are far from perfect. So the comment is utterly illogical.

FWIW jaxwired has previously made clear he doesn't like the ATC sound. That's an opinion he's perfectly entitled to, but it doesn't warrant his subjective opinion becoming some sort of objective yet illogical fact.

Ben, I love some of the ATC speakers as much as anyone but dont bring measurements into it, the LS50 actually measure better in most ways.

http://www.stereophile.com/content/kef-ls50-anniversary-model-loudspeaker-measurements

The ATCs may look like they have a 'flatter' response but in room, the excellent dispersion of the LS50 means they are likely to sound much more even. They have much better engineered cabinets and excellent step response.
