Arcam A19 - upgrate to LS50's or stick with R100's?
Bought some Kef R100's on Monday from sevenoaks. Loving the detail, soundstage, rich musicality, soft and refined treble. The bass is powerful (sometimes overwhelming, even away from walls), although noticbly bit muddy and bloated at times. As Sevenoaks have a 7-day exchange policy and given that the LS50's are ''only'' £200 more, I am perhaps daftly thinking about going for these instead, hoping for a bit more bass definition and perhaps some more detail. I do have some concerns though: -
1. Is the Arcam a19 good enough to do (at least reasonable) justice to the LS50's or given the modest power, would the R100's actually likely produce a better result? Note, I don't have the budget to upgrade either the amp or the source.
2. The treble of the R100's is so sweet and lovely; the first speaker not to sound fatiguing to my ears in situ at home. Is LS50 treble noticibly more dominant or harsh? This is a major concern for me. The Q300 treble was dreadful - is the LS50 more akin to the R100 or the Q series in this regard?
3. Would a proper run in of my existing R100's likely alleviate the bass bloom and lack of definition of the low end?
Thanks for your help
