Another one for Andrew, the WH?S&V team & anyone else willing to put in their 2 pence worth.
Hi guys,
Recently accompanied a colleague & friend to a demo. of Primare's I30,CD31 partnered with a pair of B&W 805S'.Which left me humbled by my near ignorance of the quality of Primare's products.I've rarely heard such composed, detailed, faithful & rhythmic delivery(especially using balanced XLR inputs/outputs),allied to impeccable build-quality & sleek, understated minimalist design for such a relatively modest outlay.
Whilst scouring the market for components intended for my own system,i had my head turned by models from the likes of: Arcam FMJ,Audio Analogue,Classe,Cyrus,Denon,Krell,Marantz,Musical Fidelity,Naim,Pathos,Roksan etc. I can't believe Primare's wares nearly fell under my radar - until now that is.I hereby promise to pay heed to WH?S&V magazine's reccomendations in future!
I've been looking for a decent CD/MP3 player & pre-amp/power-amp combo.,primarily to drive a pair of B&W 803D's - later perhaps using them as the basis for a modular A/V. system. The young lads who assisted us at the demo. reccomended from Primare's range: CD31,Pre30 pre-amp. with 2 x A30.2 power-amp(
.(for biamping the 803D's).Or alternatively: CD31,Pre30 pre-amp. with 2 x A32 power-amp(
.
Which,in a roundabout way, lead me to my questions.Firstly,i wonder if there are any possible complications of partnering either the Pre30 & 2 x A30.2's,or preferably the Pre30 & 2 x A32's with the B&W 803D's? I'd be especially happy to hear from anyone who has first-hand experience with these Primare pre./power-amps.
And secondly.I've scanned my WH?S&V back issues but haven't come across any reviews of the A32 power-amp.Is anyone aware of any inherent shortcomings in their design or performance.Or perhaps know of other reviews of the A32 power-amp. available on the internet?
Thanks...Looking forward to your reply.
BABUR.
