Am I looking for something that doesn't exist??!
Hi,
I am looking for your wise words on upgrading my hi-fi set-up.
Current system: Squeezebox 3, Rega Planet CD, Creek 4240 amp, Chario Syntar 100 Speakers, Digifusion PVR, Somy Bravia LCD TV and a £20 DVD player! As you may be able to tell I am a fan of a "warm" sound. Oh, and a Wii games console. Main hi fi is 15 years old now, so been out of the market some time
I don't use the CD player now, preferring the Squeeze box (all music is flac lossless) and the amp is starting to show its age (dodgy balance knob, crackly volume control). So I am looking for a single box solution to replace the amp, cd player and dvd player.
My interest is probably 80% music, 20% DVD - so I want to focus on the music and getting the best sound from the Squeezebox - whilst improving sound from the Wii and television and ideally an upscaling DVD.
Problem is, I can't seem to find what I want! My shortlist is just that - short - and a wide range of prices! What am I missing?
So far I have...
Nad L54. Like the look of this - ticks most of the boxes. However it has limited inputs (only 2 - which means Squeezebox and Wii meaning I don't get to use it with my PVR) and from the manual it seems that it only outputs component video from the internal DVD - meaning the Wii will go though a SCART so I lose the HD picture - a major problem.
Arcam Solo 2.1 - Can't find much wrong here - apart from the price - well over budget!
TEAC DR-H300 DAB. Worried that this will be a downgrade in sound quality and does not act as a consildation and switch of video sources.
Is there anything else. I think what I want is like an Arcam Solo 2.1 but cheaper! Everything seems to be surround sound based, which I definitely do not want - 2.1 will be fine for me.
Am I lokkinf for something I that does not exist - or have I missed or misunderstood what I am looking for!
Your advide welcome!

OK, Answering my own post here....
I have widened the field and come up with
Denon DR-S501 (part of the LS-V501 package but apprently you can buy it seperatly) £400
Audica AVS-1
Does anyone have any experience about these or recommendations - particularly against the Nad L54.
