IMHO I would not have Floorstanders in your room size, but others will disagree. Most FS are best about 3 feet away from walls. I really think something about 30 x 20 x 24 cms would be big enough. My room is 17 x 11 feet and I have plenty of bass.
What sort of walls and floor do you have in your room, ie is it wood or concrete floor, walls plaster board, brick, concrete, breeze block?
Wood flooring with a thick rug and 2x sides of the room are brick and 2x plaster board the room includes a sofa, bookshelf and table.
Oh and a rat cage (+ 2 rats)
Monitor Audio BX5
Not sure what effect the rats with have on the sound.
Wooden floors (suspended ) can be a problem with bass. Are the speakers backing onto the brick walls or plaster board?
My BX5s are against the plaster board wall and have always been fine, they do have a bit of room around them though. If it was a problem i could move the room about and put them against a brick wall.
Whats your opinion on furniture positioning in a room? How would having something like a bookcase in the corner effect sound?
Oh and rats don't generally effect sound unless they chew through cables.
