Advice on MF X-Ray V8/XT-100, Tannoy eyris 3 combo
Hi all, I would appreciate advice on this setup. I bought these (on reputation as well as) at a very good price so didn't have a lot of opportunity to audition. I have a MF x-ray v8 CD player, xt100 and power supply combo (new), and Tannoy eyris 3 (ex-demo, not the concentric drivers). The sound is detailed, but quite bass-light. The midrange and voices in particular sound a bit "tinny" with a slight echo (Nora Jones, Diana Krall, U2, Eagles) that annoys me a bit at higher (but not uncomfortable) volumes and is tiring for long periods. Guitar seems good. The system has been run-in over 300 hours. Nordost Blue Heaven interconnects, QED original biwire speaker cable. I'vbe checked polarity etc. Power is thru a Belkin pure AV board. Room about 5x6 metres, carpeted. Speakers 0.5m from wall, 3m apart, away from sides. Am I missing something? I would like to get rid of the tinny sound and am seeking a natural (?maybe slightly warmer) sound. Have I got a bad match, bad cables/inappropriate cables/interconnects? I also have the option of using an ex-demo MF A3.2 power amp together with the XT100.
Any advice or opinion appreciated. Thanks a lot. Alex
